The eMac is a better system than many people give it credit for.
It actually has superior hardware to the mini or the iBook.
The 17" CRT display is also very nice to work with.
Your mom will appreciate it's clean looks and ease of use, so really
if you set it up so both of you can benefit from it why not?

I had a computer crash and then I changed systems and I'm trying to consolidate several external HD's files onto one drive and get rid of all the dupicate files. I know for sure there are tons of duplicate files and we are talking several hundred gigs of data so I can't do it manually. What is the best program to identify/delete duplicate files on a MAC? (photos, excel, word, pdf's, etc.)
I'm using a 2008 iMac with 10.5.x
I don't care if i have to pay for a program as long as it's really easy to use. The file names might not be the same, so I'm looking for a program that can identify the files are identical even though the file names might not be the same.
Thanks

As a fairly proficient Windows user, I had a little difficulty switching - 24 hours, to be exact. The problem was, I was trying to use my Mac like a Windoze machine. It's not.
All became clear when I told myself to treat the Mac as if I knew nothing about computers. If that was true, how would I accomplish this task?
99 percent of the time, that works.
Haha, this is good advice! I had to spend some time de-windowizing myself! :D

BTW, what do you have? What do you use? What's your workflow look like? Do you do any windows development?
Most of my work right now revolves around Windows development or Database development (which can be done in either platform, I usually just use Mac OS for that):
MBP: "Main" computer, mobile work machine, handles all my daily tasks including email, writing, etc.
MP: Number cruncher, when I'm at home I use this for Windows development (VMWare Fusion, Win7 64-bit, Office 2010). If I'm building a large project in Windows I'll boot natively using Bootcamp and let it crunch away for a few hours.
I also use my MP for my three hobbies: photography (a few terabytes of high-res photos), music (a few terabytes of samples/libraries), and gaming (WoW, Steam, SC2, or boot into Win7 for Call of Duty MW2).
I use Back-to-my-Mac using Clear 4G to get to my MP at home, and it'll even load a 150gb project file no problems (takes a few minutes to load, but it's workable).

I'm a beginner programmer and to practice programming I'm working on a program that performs sequence formulas.

When I run the program, the first text field is already selected and you can't see the placeholder. I selected Refuse first responder for all the text fields but then Tab doesn't go to the next field. Is there a better way to not have any text fields selected at the start of the program?
Thanks

5:32 PM - there are about 40 of us in line. Not too bad.
One mother and teenage daughter just walked by and asked me what we were waiting for. I told her, and she looked at my macbook and said "Is the software for that thing?" I said yes. Turns out she bought a macbook for her daughter yesterday and no one told her about this... I told her about the $10 update cost for recent buyers. Funny.
How in the hell are they going to fit 40 people into the Galleria store? :p I went there once over the summer, since at the time, I was working right down the street on Brentwood and stopped after work, and that place was TINY. Not that WestCo is much bigger. I wish we had a NY-sized flagship store

Tap and hold on the question mark you want to see. A dialog should pop up for 'open in' then choose photos if it is a picture, if it is a different type of file such as a PDF either iBooks or another app that you use for those.

I really like the black and blue card with the black lettering in the blue colored area.
I agree with laurim that you might be cutting it close to being outside of the safe area for printing.
The fruit and vege card looks good to me. I don't think it's too green... I actually like the color. I would think about losing the ".A.D." that's inside the large "P".
Just my opinions though. As mentioned, these are your cards and should ultimately reflect your preferences.

Hi everyone, so let me get this straight, when I use Parallel Desktop in my Imac, I have to decide how to split resources{Memory and Cores) between windows and OS X? so if at one point I want Windows 7 to use all 8 gigs of RAm I have in my Imac for a program like Sonar X1, would that make the OS X side slow down or crash completely? sorry about these questions but I'm new to this!
I have an IMac 2.93 GHz Intel Core i7 8 GB Memory 1333 DDR3 running Snow Leopard 10.6.7 and Windows 7 with Parallel Desktop.

I think we should be fearful of our out of control spending. Both sides refuse to see the other side's point. Until we have a meltdown, nothing will happen. We have a spending AND revenue problem.

...Posting 2 word replies every minute or two from 12:46PM-2:04PM (approximately 75 posts) definitely qualifies as spam...Exactly.
I remember running into his "posts" in almost every thread I clicked on that afternoon. It really ticked me off.

I just brought a NEW 1TB Time Capsule (TC), and also a brand new Canon imageCLASS4570, MF laser printer.
1st Issue: Like my old Minolta laser printer that was connected to TC via USB and worked fine for 3 years, the new Canon MF does not support USB connection via TC.
But it will work if connected to the USB on desktop imac. That makes it difficult to put it on the small home office table.
Has anybody worked this MF type printers with the Ethernet cable?
I am not sure how does it work?
Objective: I would like this printer to be a network connected printer, via ethernet port on TC, so that I can print from my Laptop in other areas at home, if needed.
Please suggest: Ethernet+TC+Printer advises!
Thanks,
