Thats why I bought 8GB memory and 256GB SSD from Apple in my new MBP. Compatibility and the fact that if ANYTHING goes wrong with it I don't have to futz with it.

Thank you Sir! I wil research this storage device. :D
Unlike lots of people, I'm not a fan of most RAID schemes other than a RAID-1 mirror set. Once you start putting your critical data across multiple drives, a catastrophic multi-drive failure (and I've seen *lots* of those over my career) makes recovering any of your data anything from challenging and expensive to impossible.
I've done a fair bit of computer forensics in my recent past, both for commercial clients and for law enforcement- recovering data off a RAID device is often not fun at all- even when you have all the right equipment.
My position is that if it's important data, mirror it on two drives- and have good backups. When your unit of storage is one hard drive, an off-site backup of one hard drive is an easy thing to make/store/ship. When your unit of storage is 3-5 drives, then backups become more of a challenge.
With RAID-1, you can simply pull the mirror, add in a new drive and let the mirror rebuild to back up- that's easy and if you have a drive failure, normal drive recovery techniques get as much of your data back as is possible as quickly, cheaply and easily as possible. It doesn't give you blazing performance, and you have to buy 2x the number of drives, but it's reliable and easy, and for critical data in my opinion those trump everything else.

This is a very promising application and makes buying the 30" cinema display more feasiable for the average mac user.
i hope apple notices its development and i hope some sort of investment is made......image a OSX media center edition (like WMCE 2005) that would really cheese M$ off

i picked it up about a month ago and am very happy that i did. i played a lot of Metal Slug as a kid and it was always one of my favorite games. I also absolutely love the artwork, but i also love the comedy thrown in as well. i'm happy that they have unlimited continues but i also like the ability to limit your continues so you can test yourself because the Metal Slug series is freaking HARD.

They're really lumping iOS and *ANDROID* sales together?
Doesn't Android get something like 1% of the sales iOS gets?

One less product group for the Microsoft Store... Let's see there's this section that once showed Kin Phones, Then this other section that once was full of Zunes... Folks we're down to mice and keyboards.

I know someone who has an original iPhone 2G 8GB still sealed and may be willing to sell it. How do I tell if it's a refurb? Or if it's an early or late production model? The box shows all the old original icons and does not show the App Store or iTunes Store on it as an app.
I am thinking about buying it to collect (and leave it sealed) but I want to make sure it's something worth having.
By looking at the serial number on the back of the box, how do I tell if it's a refurb? What country was it sold in? When was it made? What information can I get from it?
No, I do not have the serial number at this time.
a dead giveaway for a refurb is 5K. I'm not too sure after that but that should help a little.
edit- if the serial on the phone matches the box, its the original.

^^It's bit unclear to me who the third member would be,China and the U.S. sure,as far as I know the Russian Federation is a signatory.India of course is agin it but is only a temporary member.
( on further investigation it appears they haven't fully ratified it yet due to problems with their constitution they are however working towards full ratification.30 odd countries have signed but not ratified)

You would read the XML file like a text file, not into an XML reader. That way you could just do something like this:
$xmlstr = file_get_contents('an.xml');
$result = preg_replace("#<LineStatus ID=\"1\".*?</LineStatus>#si", "", $xmlstr);
// save $result to file or whatever.
$xmlstr = file_get_contents('an.xml');

When I go to bed, I do a shut down.
While you may shut down whenever you like, it's not necessary. Using sleep mode is perfectly fine.
I have been advised that it is “better the computer” to go into Preferences>Energy Saver and set sleep to “never”, as battery conservation is not an issue
Also not necessary. You can set sleep preferences for when you walk away, and temporarily override them with Caffeine (http://lightheadsw.com/caffeine/).
(alway on A/C power).
It's not a good idea to always be on AC power. Your battery needs to be used/cycled to stay healthy. For details, see the AC POWER section of the following link.
Which is “better for the computer”–to put it to sleep after each use, or to leave it running all the time until bedtime shut down.
Either is fine.
This should answer most, if not all, of your battery questions:
