Er... The quad G5 isn't available new anymore, so it costs what it costs (there's nothing in the regular store to compare it to - the Mac Pro is NOT a one for one replacement)... IF this rumor is true, then the current lineup is just getting shuffled down with a new top end added, then they would have to drop refurb prices or it wouldn't make any sense.
Now if they just shuffle the CPU down (so the base mini still has a Combo drive and 60gb HDD, but gets a 1.66 Core Duo) they will STILL have to drop the refurb price... A new regular price Solo with SD and 80gb HDD is currently $699, which is the current Core Duo refurb price.
If they completely revamp the lineup then they may keep the same pricing, but seems highly unlikey as noone would buy them and keeping uneeded inventory on hand is bad business.I agree with you. To tell you the truth, unless some better sourced rumors surface I think it may very well be a disappointing keynote.:(

So I've rather been hoping for an 'event' at which these significantly upgraded MBPs could debut. I doubt the kinds of significant changes I'm hoping for would be released without some sort of fanfare.
sorry to quote myself, but i just realized that the UK Mac Expo is this week, and that would be a good venue for releasing new MBPs
so my prediction is Oct 26 at the UK MacExpo.

Not really, The reason I spent the money on Oakleys is because from what I've read and seen, Oakley's are tough and will last you years. But also if I travel and don't wish to wear them I want to put them somewhere where they will not be crushed, or drowned, or broken.
I'm also planning on going into the Coast Guard, So if/when I travel or etc, I want to take great care of my equipment & personal belongings.

I got that size because it was the smallest water proof size, I also plan on getting another pair someday.

Hmm... the Mini still has no Core 2 Duo? That does not sound too promising for MacBook (Pro) updates... unless Apple only wants to use the Core 2 Duo for the high end laptops (MacBook Pro) of course... Or are they waiting untill Leopard has been released?

For those of us with large libraries or store our music in uncompressed or at higher bit rates, the Classic is the only game in town.

But, I just didn't want my glasses rattling around in a plastic case that will most likely scratch the lenses.

Wow, looks like the rumours WERE true after all! Apple killed the Pro of Final Cut Pro. That guy who turned the much admired iMovie into garbage has done it again. All they had to do was rewrite the engine with 64 bit support, had proper file handling, rendering titling tools amongst other necessary pro features and keep the same F*&$#@*&& interface as pro users of ANY pro software don't want to re-learn an interface for no reason! It takes YEARS before you really know a software under the hood.
We'll now see FCPx turn into a hit with amateurs and will be completely abandoned by pro users who will all return to avid.
Oh, they'll all switch to Avid to avoid learning a new interface, but of course, they won't have to learn a new interface to use Avid instead of FCP :rolleyes: . Not everyone who is a video editor has been around since the time of the dinosaurs. You're complaining that an automobile isn't a horse, so it must be inferior to the horse. I think 90% of the issue is that this is the biggest LCD screen people have ever held this close to their face, and some are just now noticing that the LCD pixels can never be perfectly opaque.
This is a big reason why video purists prefer plasma or DLP TVs�they can deliver a much "blacker black". (But then, "video purist" is becoming just as much of an epithet as "audiophile" when someone is telling us that "nobody can possibly tell the difference" between CD-quality and 128 kps.) It's also why, in printing they have black ink as well as cyan, magenta, and yellow�because they're translucent and can never add up to completely opaque black.
Obviously the fact that "black" isn't completely black bothers some people more than others, and the fact they noticed that fact for the first time on an Apple product makes it Apple's fault. It bothers me moderately, but I realize it's just a feature of backlit LCDs and get on with my life.
I'm not one of those people screaming for OLED screens, because I know they won't save any power and I'm unconvinced of their longevity, especially in the humid environment I live in, but they would eliminate that one problem.

Would seem a good next step is to empower the ATV with this kind of processing power, while allowing the use of iphones/touches/ipads as controllers. Imaging HUDs and virtual controllers - or Garageband Hero?
Maybe you wouldn't have full length epic saga games (or maybe you would via streaming), but for $99 + $5-$10 a game, you have a serious competitor to traditional consoles.

yeah it was between super sprint, eisenmann, and remus. the shop wanted to do remus so i wasn't gonna argue. turned out real nice, a lot better than the stock look. quiet on the highway. loud but not obnoxious around town

Yea, FTFF is right! I wish we would see this morning that Apple has finally FTFF in Leopard, but I'm afraid we're still gonna see much of the same old stuff in there that gives us reason to want to FTFF. I hope I'm wrong though.
